Doncaster East is our home base. Most homes here were built between the 1960s and the 1980s, and many are on their second or third repaint.
Doncaster East grew out of orchard country. Most of the suburb was subdivided between the 1960s and the 1980s, so the typical house is a single-storey or split-level brick veneer home on a sloping block, with timber eaves, fascias, window frames and a garage door. Since the 2000s, many original houses have been replaced by double-storey homes and townhouses finished in render and lightweight cladding.
On a brick veneer home the brick usually stays as it is, and the painting is in the timber: eaves, fascias, barge boards, window frames and doors. These are the surfaces that take the most sun and rain, so they are often the first to peel or fade. Inside, homes of this era often have dark stained timber trims, panelling or doors, which can be painted once they are cleaned, sanded and primed.
